EXIDE VERNON UPDATE: DTSC orders Exide to completely remove blast furnace feed material that Exide was supposed to have moved in May and is still storing in an unauthorized manner; DTSC says continued storage of the toxic material is not appropriate and removal is necessary to human health and the environment; DTSC gives Exide until July 8 to submit new plan that includes moving of hazardous material to facility authorized to accepted toxic waste (MAKE NOTE FOLKS IN MUNCIE, INDIANA); Exide update summary indicates that loose lead and other materials may already have been moved to Exide’s Munice lead smelter, and such must be done in accordance with an approved Closure Plan, BUT DTSC has not approved such a plan for Exide’s Vernon lead smelter
